From Silencing to Action — From Paralysis to Hope

From Silencing to Action — From Paralysis to Hope
Study Day - On the Role of Mental Health Professionals in Times of Dehumanisation, Destruction, and Violation of Humanity
Thursday, 25.6.2026 | Tel Aviv | 8:30–16:00
Days of destruction, annihilation, and dehumanisation confront mental health professionals with a question that can no longer be avoided: what is our role when professional discourse itself is drawn into silence? This study day is dedicated to a critical examination of our place — not only as therapists within the consulting room, but as professionals who bear responsibility for what happens outside it as well.
On this day, we seek to move from paralysis to hope, and from silence to action.
What We Will Discuss
The day addresses silence and its meaning, and the fact that silence is not neutral. We will proceed to psychoanalytic and philosophical perspectives on guilt, denial, and the cost of avoiding knowledge, and to the tension between professional paralysis and psychological movement and action.
In the afternoon we will engage with ethical and political identity in clinical discourse, with therapeutic work in wartime, and with practical tools — from a film screening and discussion to professional activism. We will close with a clear call: we have been silent long enough.
